Opisano powstanie, rozwój i analizę 35-letniej pracy Oddziału Rehabilitacyjnego Wojewódzkiego Szpitala Zespolonego w Kielcach. Korzystając z relacji i materiałów archiwalnych, przedstawiono pracujących w przeszłości i obecnie lekarzy oraz pozostały personel.

Przeanalizowano strukturę i liczbę leczonych chorych. Zwrócono uwagę na stopniowo rosnącą liczbę leczonych chorych. Od pierwszych lat istnienia Oddziału do roku 2005 liczba leczonych w trybie stacjonarnym wzrosła trzykrotnie, a w trybie pobytu dziennego - czterokrotnie. Wzrost liczby rehabilitowanych osób na Oddziale Rehabilitacji ma istotne znaczenie w poprawie wyników leczenia prowadzonego na innych oddziałach, w usprawnieniu i powrocie do pracy chorych po urazach, a także w uzupełniającym leczeniu cierpiących na schorzenia przewlekłe. Leczenie, szczególnie w trybie dziennym, ma duże znaczenie ekonomiczne.

This paper aims at describing the occurrence, development and analysis of the thirty-five years of the activities of the Rehabilitation Department in the Provincial General Hospital in Kielce. The personnel working here in the past and now is presented on the basis of the archive materials taken into account. The structure and the number of the treated patients are analysed. Attention is drawn to the gradually increasing number of patients. From the first year of the Department's existence until the year 2005, the number of patients treated in the mode of twenty four-hour hospital stay increased three times, whereas those treated in the mode of a day hospital stay increased four times. The increase in the number of those rehabilitated at the Department Rehabilitation is of prime importance to improve the treatment results conducted in other departments, to make progress and recovery of the patients with traumas and to provide a supplementary treatment for the patients suffering from chronic diseases. The treatment especially in the mode of a day hospital stay is of significant economic importance.
