Naukowcy podj?li pr�b? stworzenia bardziej odpowiadaj?cej rzeczywisto?ci, wielowymiarowej definicji dobrobytu spo?ecznego, uwzgl?dniaj?cej szeroko poj?t? jako?? ?ycia. Du?y wk?ad i impuls w badania nad omawianym w niniejszej pracy zagadnieniem wni�s? A. Maslow w po?owie lat pi??dziesi?tych XX wieku. Z czasem z poj?ciem ?jako?? ?ycia? (QOL) zacz?to identyfikowa? szerokie spektrum dozna?. Problem ten sta? si? udzia?em licznych dyscyplin naukowych.

W 1974 roku opublikowano ?Social Research Indicators?, wydawnictwo po?wi?cone badaniom nad jako?ci? ?ycia, kt�re zamieszcza?o projekty nowych instrument�w badawczych i opisy ich u?ywania. Z czasem, obok czynnik�w ekonomicznych i ?rodowiskowych zacz?to ocenia? r�wnie? wska?niki socjologiczne i psychospo?eczne. W naukach spo?ecznych pojawi?y si? liczne pr�by definicji jako?ci ?ycia. Jak dot?d nie istnieje jedna definicja mog?ca zadowoli? wszystkich. Trudno?? zdefiniowania QOL polega na tym, ?e z punktu widzenia ka?dego cz?owieka jako?? ?ycia wygl?da inaczej, ka?dy ceni inne warto?ci. Ka?da z dyscyplin naukowych wypracowa?a i pos?uguje si? swoist? terminologi?, np. dobrobyt, pomy?lno??, szcz??cie, spos�b ?ycia, jego poziom, styl, strategia itp.

SUMMARY�
Initially, the concept of ?quality of life? was identified and used interchangeably with quality of life. Scientists have attempted to create a more equivalent to reality, multi-dimensional definition of social welfare, taking into account the wider quality of life. A major contribution and impetus for research on quality of life brought A. Maslow in the mid-fifties. With time, the concept of ?quality of life? (QOL) began to identify a wide range of experiences. The problem of quality of life has become involving many disciplines. In 1974 he published ?Social Indicators Research?, publisher dedicated to research on the quality of life, which projects zamieszcza?o new research tools and descriptions of their use. With time, alongside the economic factors and environmental factors also began to assess the sociological and psychological. In the social sciences there are numerous attempts to definitions of quality of life. So far there is no single definition which is able to satisfy everyone. The difficulty lies in the definition of QOL that in terms of quality of life of every human being is different, everyone appreciates the other values. Each of the disciplines has developed and uses specific terminology to describe the broader quality of life, such as welfare, prosperity, happiness, way of life, standard of living, lifestyle, life strategy, etc.�
